Foxes Faux
We are Foxes Faux; a six piece acoustic band from Keighley in
West Yorkshire. The band started in mid 2006 as an acoustic version of
Sounds of Swami, playing mainly acoustic versions of Swami songs and a
selection of covers. Initially, we did this to raise some money for
recording by playing our local pub. After writing some actual acoustic
songs, it become evident that not only did it work, but it was
extremely fun to do something different between our busy tour schedule.
The band consists of the four members of Sounds of Swami plus
original guitarist Will Quinn on 12 string guitar and Tim Rickaby on
Bouzouki. Collectiely we play play 6 string guitar, violin, mandolin,
banjo, acoustic bass, bouzouki, random percussion instruments and a
drum kit. We all sing too.
In the past we've been playing gigs mostly at parties, PA-less venues
and busking throughout spells of good weather. Without much promotion
or elbow grease from the band, we have been invited as far as Cardiff,
York and Brighton to play shows. The highlights so far have been
playing the Beat Herder Festival 2008, Worthstock Festival 2008,
headling an arts showcase at Bradfords Creative Pathways Event, played
instore at Zavvi in Manchester and entertaining the protestors at the
Centinary Square ID Card Protest, 2008.
